PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline (FGP) is a major water infrastructure project delivered by the McConnell Dowell–BMD Joint Venture (MBJV) for the Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) and the Queensland Government.

Designed to strengthen long-term water security for the Gladstone region, the project comprises a 17-kilometre pipeline connecting the Lower Fitzroy River to GAWB’s existing network at Yarwun. Once operational, it will have the capacity to transfer up to 30 gigalitres of water annually, supporting urban, industrial and emerging renewable sectors.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Quarry materials supply

Across both the Rockhampton and Gladstone sections of the pipeline, Regional Group Australia has supplied more than 65,000 tonnes of quarry materials. This includes aggregates and engineered materials used for trenching, backfilling, structural foundations and other civil works. Supply was coordinated to align with the project’s staged construction program and to service geographically dispersed work zones.

Concrete Supply

Our Gracemere batching plant supplied concrete for the Alton Downs Water Treatment Plant, Pump Station and Reservoir including structural elements, foundations and associated civil works. Concrete production and delivery were managed in line with MBJV’s pour schedules, testing requirements and batch traceability processes.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

The FGP is a significant investment in Central Queensland’s long-term water security, improving resilience to drought and supporting ongoing economic activity across the region.

Regional Group Australia’s involvement demonstrates our ability to support large, technically complex infrastructure projects with consistent, high-quality materials and reliable supply across multiple work fronts. Working closely with MBJV, our team ensured that material supply met project specifications, timelines and logistical demands.
